I read the reviews. I believed them. I set up a Picturelife account and spent half a day transferring over photos from Dropbox.
Yup, Picturelife is an attractive cloud-based photo storage site, but not the one for me. Glad I learned this before I paid to upgrade.
My needs: quick and easy access to stored photos, whether I’m on my MacBook Air, IPhone, IPad, IPod or BB Q10. Integration with IMovie, IPhoto and Adobe Bridge (for use with Photoshop and InDesign).
Picturelife doesn’t achieve any of this easily.
- No ‘select all’ function means moving or downloading multiple photos requires clicking on each photo individually. Wait til you’ve selected 60 of them and they mysteriously become unselected and you have to start all over. A hellish, headache-inducing nightmare.
- No integration with video or photo editing software means you have to download a picture to your desktop and then bring into the program you’re using. A hellish ……
I tried to make it work. Alas, I’ve gone back to ugly, clunky Dropbox, which gets the job done. I’ve even paid for more space. Which means Dropbox and I have a long future ahead.
Now, to transfer all those photos in Picturelife back to Dropbox ONE CLICK AT A TIME.
Flickr?
Was in the running, but have had bad experiences uploading – crashes. So Dropbox won.
