Cozumel is my new fave spot because it has some of the best scuba diving in the world.
It’s also a great place to get scuba certified. I did some of my training there in drift diving, deep diving and peak buoyancy.
The island is teeming with dive operators plus both budget and luxury resorts. I stay at Suites Bahia and dive with Tres Pelicanos.
I’ve made two trips there in recent years and plan to return at least once in 2014.

- Read about some of my Cozumel diving adventures:
Cozumel is pretty relaxed, but the small downtown area gets insanely busy when the cruise ships are in town, which is almost daily during the winter months. One day in December, I counted seven ships docked. That’s tens of thousands of invaders!!

There’s a lot of cool stuff underwater: nurse and black tip sharks, eagle rays, sting rays, turtles, giant groupers and barracudas. Even if you’re just snorkeling there’s plenty to see.
I love Cozumel.
Love the turtle picture!! 🙂
Me too.
Out of about 200 underwater pics on a $200 USD camera, that’s the one where everything came together perfectly.
I love the way the turtle is looking at the camera.
I’ve not run it through Photoshop for colour correction. I love it just the way it is.
It’s a keeper.
It’s definitely a keeper! 🙂
My first salt water dive was in Cozumel and I was hooked. 7 ships in one day? Ugh!
I love the drift diving in Cozumel, the swim throughs and the walls. My favourite dive location close-ish to home <8 hours of travel.
My first dive there we were booked with a well respected outfit in Cozumel. When we arrived there had been some unexpected changes with the boat and crew which resulted with us needing to be booked with someone else. I was never totally clear on the details but end the end it worked out. The DM that day we ended with is one that we have continued to dive with since. I believe we’ve been 6 times now. I love Cozumel.
